Soviet Ambassador Nikolai Novikov
He believes that all of the loans that the United States were giving out at the end of the war was just so that they could capitalize and take over more of the world, including the Truman Doctrine. "The foreign policy of the United States, which reflects the imperialist tendencies of American monopolistic capital, is characterized in the postwar period by a striving for world supremacy. " He also through that America intentionally entered the war late so that they could avoid the most damage and be the war hero in the end even thought the USSR suffered the most loss. "During the Second World War . . . [American leaders] calculated that the United States of America, if it could avoid direct participation in the war, would enter it only at the last minute, when it could easily affect the outcome of the war, completely ensuring its interests" Henry Wallace

Winston Churchill
He makes a speech in Fulton, Missouri where he said: "Warsaw, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Belgrade, Bucharest and Sofia; all these famous cities and the populations around them lie in what I must call the Soviet sphere, and all are subject, in one form or another, not only to Soviet influence..." "What [the USSR] desire[s] is the fruits of war and the indefinite expansion of their power and doctrines." This speech is here the famous term "Iron Curtain" came from. Churchill, being the prime minister of Britain, blamed the USSR for the start of the Cold War and fears for all of the allies inside of the USSR's side of the iron curtain. The Truman Doctrine
This law helps any European country in need after WWII as long as they stayed a capitalist state. For example: "The very existence of the Greek state is today threatened by the terrorist activities of several thousand armed men, led by Communists..." "One of the primary objectives of the foreign policy of the United States is the creation of conditions in which we and other nations will be able to work out a way of life free from coercion. " President Truman was hard pressed to keep communism from spreading (i.e. the financial help) which surrounded the USSR with democratic, capitalist states. This did not make the USSR very happy and lead them to what Truman believed was the start of the Cold War. |
