Who is Eisenhower Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower was born in on 14th October 1890 and in his lifetime, became the president of the United States with his vice president, Nixon. He was in office from 20 January 1953 until 20 January 1961. Before his presidency, Eisenhower was a major in the army as well as (almost) Supreme Allied Commander for WWII. He was the one in charge of the planning the attack on North Africa, France, and Germany. His main goal in the army was to pressure the Soviet Union to back down. In fact, during his first year of his presidency, he threatened to use nuclear weapons in order to stop the Soviet Union. He died in 28 March 1969.

He did not do much during the Civil Rights Movement during the 50's and the 60's because it was at the same time the Cold War was. Being the military man he was, the war took precedence over the Civil Rights Movement.
